Orientation. Packing and trip preparation. Afternoon for
hiking, visit to Arusha town, or resting for the big climb. |

Day 4 |
February 10 |
Drive to
Lemosho Glades (6890 ft). Meet local staff and porters.
Hike to Big Tree Camp (9200 ft) in a beautiful old growth forest. |

Day 5 |
February 11 |
Climbers
cross the spectacular and remote Shira Ridge, then descend a short
distance to Shira 1 Camp on the Shira Plateau (11,450 ft). |

Day 6 |
February 12 |
Today's walk
is uphill, but short. Climbers move to a very special place,
""Scott Fisher's Camp" at 12,600 ft. |

Day 7 |
February 13 |
Climbers
move even higher to the Moir camp, 13,500 ft. This spectacular
camp is located beneath Northern Ice Fields of Kilimanjaro. |

Day 8 |
February 14 |
Climbers
ascend through the moorland and alpine desert zones to the Lava Tower
camp at 15,090 ft. |

Day 9 |
February 15 |
Ascend to
Arrow Glacier Camp at 15,750 ft. |

Day 10 |
February 16 |
Climbers
cross the Western Breach into the crater, camping at 18,700 ft. |

Day 11 |
February 17 |
Summit Day!!
In less than 2 hours from camp, a measured pace will get the climbers
to the highest spot in Africa, Uhuru Point at 19,339 ft. The
climbers descend the Barafu Route all the way to 10,000 ft at the top
of the forest. |

Day 12 |

Climbers
walk through the forest to the park gate, where the Land Cruisers will
wait to take them back to Arusha. |

Safari
Adventure!! The best wildlife viewing is in the morning and
climbers will take advantage of this as they are driven from Arusha to
visit Lake Manyara before lunch. They stop for lunch before they
make their way to the Ngorongoro Crater. Then they drive up from
the crater to visit a favorite Masai boma, or village. |

Day 15 |
February 21 |
Visit to
Olduvai Gorge, the "cradlde of mankind." It was here that Mary Leakey
found fossil remains of ancestors who walked the swamps of Africa long
before Kilimajaro was formed. The next few hours could be the
highlight of anyone's East African safari dream. Climbers will
be looking for lions, cheetahs and leopards. They will gaze in
awe at herds of wildbeest, zebra and buffalo. They may even see
black rhinos. From Ngorongoro, they drive to Tarangire National
Park where they will have their final dinner at the lodge. |

Day 16 |
February 22 |
A Classic
African Landscape, Tarangire National Park is the land of baobab
trees, and the best place to view undisturbed elephant society.
It has been the favourite park of many experienced travelers to
Tanzania over the years. Climbers will be taken back to Arusha
in the afternoon where they will pack up for the flight home. |

Arrive back
in Canada. |
